Support OneQibla
Help keep it free for every Muslim.
This app is free for everyone. If it helps you, you can help us keep it free and make it available to more Muslims around the world.
Give
Your gift goes to Lingtao, personally.
It is collected through Xcelerent, a company in Australia, so your bank statement will show XCELRENT* OneQibla.
By card, from anywhere
You choose the amount on the next page — any amount, including one not listed below. The figures are suggestions; there is no right amount.
- AUD 8 keeps the domain for half a year
- AUD 25 about two months of Apple's US$99-a-year fee
- AUD 60 an hour of review by a native speaker, or about five months of Apple's fee
Opens Stripe in a new tab.
You will never be asked again by the app or by us. If you want a receipt, write to support@oneqibla.org and say when you gave.
Four promises, kept before a single gift
- Support unlocks nothing. Everyone gets the same app. There is no premium version, no supporter badge, and no feature behind a payment — and there never will be.
- The app never asks. Giving happens here, on your own initiative. The app will not ask on first launch, not before or during prayer, and not after you have used it. It has no nag screen, because there is nothing to say "not now" to.
- Any amount is welcome. The amounts above are suggestions. What you give says nothing about you, and nothing about your worship.
- We take nothing from what you give. The card route itself takes a fee before the rest reaches the work.
What your support pays for
Only things we can show you. There is no server, no advertising and no marketing budget.
- Hours. OneQibla is built by one person, with every change recorded in a changelog two hundred releases long. The code is not public yet; whether it will be is an open question. Support buys hours.
- Review and translation by people who know. Qualified reviewers from more than one tradition for the calculation methods, the coordinates and the holy places; native speakers for every language. If any of them asks to be paid for their time, this is where that comes from. Arabic is the exception, and the first thing this would pay for: it shipped translated by AI before any native speaker read it, and the app says so.
- Accessibility — large text, screen readers, older phones, and the testing that proves they work.
- The fees. Apple charges US$99 a year and Google US$25 once to publish an app; the domain costs a few dollars a year.
What it will never pay for: advertising, analytics, tracking of any kind, or a "premium" tier. (This website's visit counting, which runs only if you accept it, is free and is described in the privacy policy.)
What a gift here is, and is not
A gift here goes to a person, not to a charity. It is not tax-deductible anywhere, and no charity receipt can be issued. If you want a note confirming what you gave and when, write and ask.
The card route takes a fee. We take nothing from what you give; Stripe takes its cut before the rest reaches the work.
Help without money
The things holding the app back are not all money.
- Help bring the app into your language. The app is fully in Arabic, but the Arabic was translated by AI and no native speaker has read it; the app says so beside the Arabic option. It shipped that way because the person who builds the app chose to, rather than leave Arabic readers with English. If Arabic is your first language and you have the patience for a screen of religious wording, that review is the most useful thing you could give. Urdu, Bengali, Indonesian, Malay, Turkish, Persian, Hausa, Swahili, French and Russian have not been started at all; if one of those is yours, write and say so.
- Review the religious content. A scholar or a student of the Islamic sciences willing to look at the calculation methods, the Qibla and the holy places — we would like to hear from you before anyone else.
- Tell someone it is coming — family, a friend, anyone who would want it, and especially anyone who cannot travel to the holy places. There is no App Store or Google Play listing yet, so the only way for them to hear is to ask to be told when it is out — which is a real address, read by a person, and used for nothing else.
support@oneqibla.org — read by a person.
